What is a Remote Care Eye Exam?
A Remote Care Eye Exam provides virtual access to a licensed optometrist with the same standard of specialized care. With the aid of cutting-edge
technology, you will be in our office and will virtually connect with a live licensed optometrist for a comprehensive eye exam- the only difference is
the optometrist is not physically in the exam room.
• Convenience and Accessibility: Ensures that you have access to expert eye care through expanded doctor coverage.
• Comprehensive Care: The optometrist can conduct a complete eye exam, refract remotely to provide a prescription, review test results, and offer
recommendations for glasses, contacts, or treatment, all while utilizing advanced remote technology.
Is a Remote Care eye exam right for me?
While Remote Care is an excellent option for most eye care needs, it’s important to be aware of a few considerations:
Forms signed by an optometrist
Since your optometrist is remote, they cannot physically sign certain forms (such as DMV/CDL applications or other medical documents requiring a signature).
You must be able to complete an entire examination*
All patients need to be able to remain focused and engaged throughout the entire exam, which includes completing pre-tests and several detailed evaluations. For this reason, we recommend remote exams for ages 12 and up.
Contact Lens Exams
Remote Care is suitable for current contact lens wearers who need a follow-up exam or refitting. However, if you’re new to contacts, you will need fitting and training from an in-person optometrist.
*All Remote Care eye services meet ADA guidelines.
Eye exams available at the independent doctor of optometry at or next to LensCrafters. Doctors in some states are employed by LensCrafters. In
California, eye exams are available at LensCrafters locations from independent doctors of optometry at or next to LensCrafters. The optometrists are not
employed by LensCrafters, which does not provide eye exams. Infant eye exams not available at all locations.
